The Santa Barbara Symphony is seeking a Director of Marketing and Community Engagement to work in conjunction with the mission statement, strategic plan and overall vision of the organization. This position will develop marketing plans, programs and communications to promote the mission of the Symphony, including but not limited to market research, innovative marketing content, marketing strategies, publicity promotions, graphic design, cost-effective activities, public relations and audience development strategy.
This is a full-time executive level position reporting to the Executive Director and directly supervises the Patron Services Manager and Patron Services Associate.
Marketing and advertising for the Santa Barbara Symphony concert season and Music Education Center
Lead, implement and execute audience development efforts, strategies and campaigns
Create and produce all PR-related communications and materials
Plan and develop budgets for each marketing campaign and monitor progress and results
Demonstrated skill in managing multiple projects and tasks with a high attention to detail
Solid knowledge and understanding of marketing concepts, principles, and trends
Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills
Excellent copywriter, copyeditor and proofreader
Highly analytical and able to make data-driven decisions
Minimum three years’ experience in marketing, performing arts, nonprofit or related field
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or related field
Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite software (Photoshop and InDesign)
Basic knowledge of HTML, web design, email marketing platforms and social media
Tessitura experience preferred
Knowledge and interest in the arts and classical music preferred
