The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) is seeking applications of candidates for TWO Marketing and Promotions Assistant positions. The Marketing & Promotions Assistants (MPA) will assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for marketing the intercollegiate athletics programs at UNCG. Included within this play are functions related to revenue generation, community relations, promotions and event management.
There are TWO openings for marketing and promotion assistants starting July 1, 2017. The MPA’s primary responsibility is to market and promote the Department of Athletics and its teams. These positions will work heavily to promote men’s and women’s basketball year round, including but not limited to game-day experience, student attendance and group attendance. In addition, both positions will have at least one primary sport in the fall and in the spring where the MPA will be primary contact for promotions and event management. Other responsibilities include assisting with the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan, which enhances the department’s visibility in the community and assisting with basketball ticket sales plans to increase revenue. The MPA assists in the fulfillment of successful execution of corporate sponsorship elements. This position also helps promote major annual athletic events and works with special events and event management duties as assigned. The MPA will be responsible for several graphic design projects, including but not limited to flyers, video board graphics and print ads. The position will also oversee and coordinate the student intern group for the marketing department.
This entry-level position is a 12-month appointment, beginning July 1, 2017, with a mutual option for a second year, paying $18,000 annually.
A bachelor’s degree is required and a master’s degree is preferred. At least one year of experience in collegiate sports marketing is desired. Experience in working with design programs such as Photoshop is a must. Experience with written marketing plans and in-game management is preferred. Understanding of the NCAA rules is desired. Demonstrated expertise in written and oral communication skills is a prerequisite. The MPA must be goal and task oriented and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. The MPA must be creative and self-motivated to accomplish tasks. The job will include extensive evening, weekend and holiday assignments.

The UNCG Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is administratively housed in the Office of the Chancellor. The University’s 17 teams compete as members of NCAA Division I and the Southern Conference. Approximately 300 students are involved as athletes, managers, trainers, statisticians, cheerleaders, etc.
