We are a mid-sized non-profit that provides life-changing services to people with disabilities in Central and Southern Maryland. We are looking for a creative, team member who has the experience and know-how to market our good work optimally and increase our donor base.
Responsibilities: This is a position that involves a variety of tasks encompassing marketing, fund raising, volunteer program oversight and grant development.
The fund raising responsibilities of the position involve the development, oversight and successful implementation of various fundraising initiatives and events for the agency. It will involve working with the Development Committee of the Board of Directors along with other volunteers and civic organizations to successfully bring in donations through fundraising events, on-line donations, the car donation program and other areas as determined by the fundraising budget.
The marketing portion of the position will involve the planning and implementation of the agency’s public communications through a variety of media. Creating strategies for targeting new customers and donors. Conceiving and implementing promotional programs to raise awareness of the agency’s good work, fundraisers in addition to supporting the agency to implement its strategic plan. Ensuring that key, strategic messages are communicated effectively to target audiences including web page development and oversight. Produces, or acts as liaison with firms that produce, public relations, advertising, and marketing materials.
Oversight of the volunteer program involves registering the agency for all applicable volunteer recruitment facilities, communicating with volunteers, arranging for volunteer tasks and thank you letters.
The grant development responsibilities of the position include an analysis of the needs of the agency, researching grant resources and supporting others to write grants. The grant responsibilities of the position will include:
Through interviews and other means, gather information that will easily allow him/her to grasp the concept of a project or program for which funding is sought as defined by the person responsible for carrying it out.
Research grant-making organizations and analyze them to identify likely funding sources for specific projects and programs.
Develop a grant submission plan of dates and responsibilities,
Manage the process of supplying progress reports as required by each grant
Requirements: The position requires flexibility and excellent communication skills. Outstanding writing, and organizational skills are a must. In addition, the ability to generate, organize and manage priorities independently and work as a team player. Three year’s experience in the non-profit funding/marketing/social media and web site development preferred. Bachelor degree preferred.
