The Coordinator ofMarketing and Communications is part of the Office of Housing and ResidentialEducation (OHARE) under the Dean of Students at Vanderbilt University and is akey individual contributor responsible for the development and implementation ofmarketing and communication plans. Reporting directly to the Director ofHousing Assignments, the Coordinator has regular contact with staff, faculty,and university leadership.
The Coordinator ofMarketing and Communications is responsible for managing the OHARE online andsocial media presence, event publicity and increased levels of communicationwith students and their families. The individual in this positionwill support the Office of Housing and Residential Education's brand by promotinga positive image and reputation to other campus departments and key audiences.

Key Functions andExpected Performance:
Designs and implements internal and external communications to students, families, staff and other key stakeholders in coordination with the Office of Housing and Residential Education (OHARE) leadership.
Produces and distributes OHARE's weekly e-newsletter, InnerVU.
Creates and distributes a monthly student staff newsletter in collaboration with Residential Education.
Proposes and implements marketing and communications strategies, which align with the university's strategic plan.
Responsible for the development, design and management of online content and communications.
Serves as a point of contact for critical incidents and other public information requests while working in collaboration with Vanderbilt News and Communications.
Performs editing, accuracy review and fact checking on all department issued web, media and print content.
Assists with the management of listservs.
Develops and implements marketing plans for large-scale department initiatives including, but not limited to, student and professional staff recruitment, programming for residents, room assignment processes, living learning community recruitment, summer conference recruitment, transition processes and other projects as assigned.
Represents the Office of Housing and Residential Education at recruitment events and information fairs.
Works in collaboration with various university offices and departments, supporting marketing efforts that are a priority to the university, including, but not limited to, Admissions, the Office of the Dean of the Ingram Commons and the Office of Transition Programs.
Remains up-to-date on University standards for branding and identity.
Assists with special event planning and implementation.
Works with Dean of Students Director of Training and Communication to assist with Division-wide marketing and communications efforts. This is a ‘dotted-line’ report with the Director of Training and Communication.
Serves on department and university committees.
This position does nothave supervisory responsibility; this position reports administratively andfunctionally to Director of Housing Assignments.
A Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, communications or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education is necessary.
A Master's degree in marketing, journalism, communications or a related field from an accredited institution of higher education is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
At least two years of relevant experience is necessary.
Experience in marketing or public relations is preferred.
Familiarity and experience working in a college or university setting is preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
Extensive knowledge of marketing channels including public relations, web and social media is preferred.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously is preferred.
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds attending highly selective institutions with a broad range of campus groups, departments, and organizations is preferred.
Strong interpersonal/human relations skills including ability to develop and cultivate professional relationships is preferred.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative and WordPress is preferred.
Working knowledge of social media platforms is preferred.
