Responsible for planning, development and implementation of all of the Association’s marketing strategies, communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. Serves as liaison with the Communications Committee and works with other committees, as assigned to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Coordinates marketing and PR activities at the strategic and tactical levels with the other functions of the Association.
The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer. (small staff association)
The Marketing and Communications Specialist will have lead responsibility in coordinating PR activities with a retained PR firm. The position is also responsible for maintaining the Association’s website, social media, publication(s) and member communications.
Marketing, communications and public relations
Responsible for creating, implementing and measuring the success of a comprehensive marketing, communications and public relations program that will enhance the Association’s image and position within the marketplace, general public and policy makers. Facilitates internal and external communications and all Association marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, member acquisition, etc.
Ensure articulation of the Association’s desired image and position, assure consistent communication of image and position throughout the Association, and assure communication of image and position to all constituencies, both internal and external.
Responsible for editorial direction, design, production and distribution of all Association publications.
In collaboration with a retained PR Firm, coordinate media interest in the Association and ensure regular contact with target media and appropriate response to media requests.
Coordinate the appearance of all Association print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
Maintain and further develop website, website content and social media presence.
Responsible for publication sales and distribution.
Leads projects as assigned.

3-5 years’ experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the not-for-profit or association sector.
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, public relations preferred. Graduate degree in a related field is desirable.
Experience working in a medical society or trade association environment.
Familiarity with health policy issues.
