The Marketing and Communications Specialist assists in developing and implementing communications across multiple channels to promote educational programs and events, strengthen member engagement, and build the reputation of AOFAS and its members. This is a new position for the Society.
Writes effective copy for the website, social media, broadcast emails, and marketing materials
Works with the Marketing and Communications Senior Manager to enforce style guidelines and maintain brand consistency across all platforms and channels.
Develops and maintains content for AOFAS websites, working with other departments and volunteers to ensure effective and timely online representation of AOFAS events, programs, and strategic initiatives
Oversees AOFAS social media presence on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube, developing content and responding to incoming messages and posts.
Creates, manages, and tracks email campaigns
Drafts and distributes press releases as needed
Monitors and reports on media coverage
Assists in the production of the quarterly member newsletter
Other duties as assigned by Marketing and Communications Senior Manager.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required
2+ years’ experience, preferably in a nonprofit, association, or healthcare organization
Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Ability to coordinate multiple projects and manage deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently
Experience using social media platforms for business/professional purposes
Experience working with broadcast email software
Experience with content management systems (preferably Sitefinity), association management systems, and HTML
Basic knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and InDesign
Knowledge of SEO techniques/best practices and Google Analytics a plus
Must enjoy a small office environment
Able to travel 1-2 times per year
Able to participate in occasional evening conference calls
Available to work in the office during the work week (Monday through Friday)
