This position is responsible for the marketing and promotional efforts of the University of Portland’s Athletics Department. Specific duties include creation and execution of marketing plans, creating and coordinating digital communication, and oversight of in-game marketing.
Responsibilities: Develop and execute marketing strategies and marketing plans incorporating appropriate channels (i.e., web presence, digital, and print) to meet departmental and/or organizational objectives. Specific duties include:
Develop and execute marketing and sales plans for UP Athletics with emphasis on men’s & women’s basketball, men’s & women’s soccer, baseball, and volleyball to include on-campus, community, sponsors, season & group tickets holders, alumni, and donors.
Oversight of in-game management including video board, music, promotions, script, sponsor activation, and marketing/fan information booth for men’s & women’s soccer, men’s & women’s basketball, volleyball, and baseball.
Coordinate with appropriate campus departments to develop, execute and maximize opportunities for game day events that build attendance impact for soccer and basketball such as Bite on the Bluff,
Brewfest, and the like.
Design and drive e marketing and communications providing effective and brand aligned messaging.
Oversee market research and analysis; apply results to inform decisions regarding strategic marketing.
Design marketing materials including but not limited to schedule cards, posters, season ticket cards, PACmail, enews, digital marketing, social media, and marketing flyers.
Provide excellent customer service to all fans.
Develop, recruit and manage “student fan” group and Pilot Kids Club group; manage budgets for purple pride and Kids Club.
Assist with coordination of programs and event logistics as needed.
Collaborate with campus partners.
Hire and manage a team of student employees. This includes managing interview process, establishing work schedules, setting performance expectations, and addressing performance concerns.
Responsible for approval of time cards for student workers. Other duties as relevant to the duties of the position or as assigned by supervisor or supervisor's designee.
This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt position with benefits. Education and Experience Required: bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience. Preferred: prior experience in sports or athletics related marketing. Or a combination of equivalent education and/or experience.

Proven ability to achieve an organization’s vision, values and programs through marketing and communication initiatives. Strong computer skills and proficiency with office software, email, marketing and social media, and data analysis related applications; ability to quickly learn and use new technologies and applications in depth at level of proficiency appropriate for the position’s duties. Ability to consistently handle and follow through with multiple projects and assignments and meet deadlines.
